Roadwork at the 'Leien'
In 2006 extensive roadwork is carried out at the 'Leien', the inner city ring around the old city center of Antwerp. The Leien (the streets called Italiëlei, Frankrijklei, Britselei and Amerikalei) are reconstructed.
Starting August 1, 2006, the so-called 'Iron Bridge' at the crossroads of Italiëlei, Frankrijklei, Gemeentestraat and Franklin Rooseveltplaats will be removed. From this day, inbound traffic needs to take the Antwerp ring and avoid the Leien. Situation will be normal again starting September 1, 2006.
