As in every other big city, parking your car in Antwerp can be a nuisance.
As in every other big city, parking your car in Antwerp can be a nuisance. In big parts of the city, you have to pay for sparse parking space.
Ticket machines on the streets are coin operated, or work with Proton, the Belgian chipknip. Depending on which area of the city you want to park, you pay up to 20 euro for a (part of the) day. In the old town you have to pay till 9 in the evening. Paid parking times are listed on the ticket machines.
Antwerp has a number of underground parkings, especially around the station and the shopping area around the Meir, Hopland and the Theatre.
In the old part of town, you can park in the parkings under the Groenplaats and the Grote Markt. A day ticket costs up to 15 euro.
